Alice Donut

"Michael Gerald's Party Machine Presents..." CD (Touch and Go)

Standard fare from Alice, singing a great cover of "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You," and Killdozer, sounding, as usual, like Tom Waits on crack. These first two songs are by no means disappointing, but the third track is truly poetry. The Kill Donut rendition of "Age of Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In" (from Hair) is the greatest thing since the Replicants covered "Cinnamon Girl." The only negative thing I can say here is that there are only three tracks on this CD, and the two bands only do one song together. I would have liked to see where this group of freaks would have gone with a little more time in the studio. (ADAM)

"Three Sisters" CD (None)

I suspect you would be hard pressed to find anyone who has thought about Alice Donut in the past 15 years, much less cared about the band's music in some way. I would put myself in both categories. Having listened to this album, duly noting that it is presumably intended to be filed under rock by dint of its guitars and rhythm section, I will continue to place myself in the latter of the two categories.
