Codeine

"The White Birch" CD (Sub Pop)

Codeine's music feels like drifting off to sleep on a winter night. It's truly lazy music, in no hurry to go anywhere. Many people have written about each note seeming to ponder whether another should follow, or if that would be too much trouble. Cool. At least Codeine doesn't engage in the guitar wank of other bands. It's spare, haunting and doesn't have a damn thing to do with "g-rock."
