I don't think it's possible to "get" this album without some pretty severe hurt, whether it's high school, falling in love or getting left behind. Blake has always been able to cut right through words and language to get to deeply buried emotions and start poking the truly painful ones, the ones that make listeners feel something. I'm not sure this is a good thing; frankly, I needed sleep after listening to this record again to recover, but I know it's incredibly powerful. This is the sound of two hearts breaking miles apart from each other.
