"Mythic" CD (No. 6)
Phish meets Mudhoney meets the Doors. Hmmm...a very interesting idea, but not exactly a greatly anticipated combination of sounds. With a vocal range trapped somewhere in Jim Morrison's basement, the singer manages to evoke peculiar feelings of discomfort and chagrin that end only when the CD stops spinning. Surprisingly, however, there are a few really good guitar riffs that manage to add a bit of substance to the songs, but the guitars cannot save this ill-fated conglomeration of sounds. A couple of words of advice to the band: Organ music can bring out some of the best or some the worst in an ensemble - get rid of the ham on the piano. (ADAM)
