"Self-titled" CD EP (No. 6)

Is it my CD player or does the first track, "Sideshow By The Seashore" sound like it was recorded from a warped record player? It's probably intentional, I know, but this song would be a decent Television rip-off if it weren't for that irritating "Twwwwaaaawwwaaannnwwaaaa ..." These guys have definitely been mining Tom Verlaine's back catalog for the churning guitars and quirky vocals. But hey, no problem there. There's worse people to emulate. Their cover of David Byrne's "Thank You For Sending Me An Angel" is a competent rendition but the last track, Tom Rush's "No Regrets," injects the original with a new atmosphere. Your parents would probably like the song, but don't hold it against the band. (ERIC)
