Oh, la rock! There's something about loud guitars, cranked up to volumes which make Spinal Tap's absurdly loud aesthetic seem like just so much chamber music. And the sound! Oh, that rich, full, huge sound, dripping with chocolate-covered riffs and pulsing bass ... this is the rock. It's also one of the best albums I've heard this year.
