The Richies

"Pet Summer" CD (We Bite America)

Calling the Richies a Ramones rehash is pointless. There's no question about the Richies' primary influence, even though they expand their focus to include covers of the Beach Boys' "Dance, Dance, Dance" and Jan and Dean's "She's My Summer Girl." While this album includes a few great songs like "She's In Tucson - I'm At Home," for the most part it's simply mediocre pop-punk. In addition, the Richies cop the opening riff on "Dr. Sick" directly from the first Ramones album. Imitation truly is the most sincere form of sycophantic flattery.
